Inbound, Going South

This is my first ever screenplay written. The story is about two life long friends, Emily and Izzy, who go on a road trip to visit their sick mutual friend. Emily and Izzy may be best friends, but the audience comes to find out that their personalities and beliefs are polar opposites of each other. You come to learn that the phrase "opposites attract" really does not apply when discussing the topic of death and dying. In order to cope with their friend Carly's sickness and inevitable death, Izzy wants to keep the conversation open and flowing, whereas Emily wants no part in it. What sounds like a quick weekend get away quickly goes south when everything that can possibly go wrong happens, delaying their arrival further and further. These events put a strain on the two's already tense relationship. But in order to make it to their destination before something happens to the sick friend, Emily and Izzy must first work out their own issues before figuring out how they can dig themselves out of the rest of their problems.
